A NEW YORK FASHION WEEK STANDOUT: THE KHAITE 2024 SPRING READY TO WEAR SHOW

September is here, bringing the end of summer and the start of fall with it. With the end of the warm weather, comes one of fashion’s most anticipated weeks of the year: New York Fashion Week. These 6 days of runway glamour and galore, with highlights like Peter Do’s debut collection for Helmut Lang and Tory Burch hosting the American Museum of Natural History's first ever runway show, are coming to an end, but kick-starting a month of fashion around the globe.

Among the 69 runway shows, one stood out to me. Khaite NYC, a brand known for its women’s ready to wear that features balance while emulating sensuality, debuted a gorgeous Spring 2024 Ready to Wear collection. Creative Director and founder of Khaite, Cate Holstein, created a powerful and mysterious, yet elegant assemblage of 44 looks.

The collection featured strong shouldered blazers, statement belts, and beautifully silhouetted floor length gowns. According to WWD, the ambience of the room was created by Holstein’s husband and set designer, Griffin Frazen, and featured dark lighting and minimalistic aspects to create a thrilling, and eerie vibe.

However, it wouldn’t be a Khaite show if there wasn’t a message behind the madness. Holstein commented on the political undertone behind the show, as well as key feminist symbolism behind several pieces in the collection, bringing an insightful and meaningful theme behind an already beautiful collection.

As for my highlights from the show, three key pieces stood out to me: 1) A padded shoulder, black leather blazer, 2) an ethereal white gown with a plunging V neck top, and slits down each leg, and 3) a black belt bound with two gold hands grasping each other. Other standouts were the pops of bright red, this season's color, and unique handbags that complemented several outfits.

Overall, Khaite’s 2024 Spring RTW collection is close to perfect, the presentation was captivating, and all eyes will be on upcoming girl boss Cate Holstein to see what she can accomplish next!
