Fashion Meets History: The Iconic Frye Boot Journey

This fall, continuing with the summer trend, high boots are a staple in any wardrobe. Paired with a mini skirt, dress, or classic jeans, a pair of high boots is the perfect way to spice up your outfit for this fall season. It can be hard to find the optimal pair of boots with regard to length, comfortability, and material. After searching online and in-store for an ideal pair, Frye boots have always been rated as the best quality and most authentic.

With its rich history, The Frye Company has withstood the test of time for decades, making their boots one of a kind. The company began in 1863, serving as the oldest boot manufacturer in the United States. John A. Frye opened a little neighborhood shop on Elm Street in Marlboro, MA to kick off the start of the company. About 20 years later, in 1888, the first pair of boots were produced by the Frye Company. During that period, they manufactured more boots and other types of shoes than any other city in its time. Frye made his shoes incomparable to other brands by focusing on craftsmanship with each style, having precise stitching and quality leather.

Since the first boot was made, other regions of the U.S. began to adapt these boots to their own personal styles. In the 1940s, ranchers started to wear Frye boots, and the company created their first pair of cowboy boots. This marked the start of the Western trend for the Frye Company. Over time, Frye’s western boots have interconnected vintage charm and modern fashion. The boots were inspired by the American West at the time of their origin, with added durability for the work life of a rancher. Today, the Frye cowboy boots can be rocked on a ranch in Wyoming or New York City with their versatility in style and color to pair with any type of clothing.

After the creation of the western boot line by the company, Frye became the main supplier of boots for the U.S. military during World War II. Emphasizing the idea of durability during any kind of climate, navy and army men wore these from Normandy to Okinawa. The company continued to fill the requests for these shoes throughout the war, and soldiers loved the boots so much that they continued to order them afterward. Throughout the 1960s, the Frye Company ventured into making custom boots, which definitively catalyzed their fame in the fashion world. Icons like Jackie Kennedy, Walt Frazier, Carole King, and Barbra Streisand purchased personally crafted boots and brought them into the fashion limelight.

The Frye Company has been a standard for all boots and shoes to come in the fashion industry. The craftsmanship, started in the late 1800s, speaks for itself with decades of bestsellers.
