Springing into Spring: How to Perfect Your Transitional Wardrobe

When transitioning to the warmer weather, it’s important to keep three things in mind: spring colors, layers, and the rainy weather. This spring, new trends have been seen all over social media, from cute lighter jackets to a new wave of beautiful pastel colors.

This article will first look at the influx of different spring colors. This spring there is a larger focus on brighter pastel colors. New York Fashion Week gave way to a spring color palette full of bright greens, oranges, and blues but also lighter purples, yellows, and grays. The addition of these brighter colors hints at the warmth to come in the summer and is the perfect way to incorporate the transitional element of spring into your outfits. Spring is a season full of blooming flowers–  step away from the darker winter months, which can be fully expressed by the color of your clothes.

Investing in statement pieces is another way to incorporate these colors into your wardrobe. This could be a bright-colored shoe or purse that makes an otherwise normal outfit stand out.

The picture below highlights the vibrant colors that spring has to offer.

Layers are next! My favorite element of a spring wardrobe is experimenting with different forms of layers. This spring large oversized bomber jackets and chunk cardigans have been seen all over the media.  Start with a base layer, like a cotton tee or blouse, add a lightweight sweater or cardigan, and top it off with a trench coat or a light jacket. As the days get warmer, having layers is important, and in spring we can finally leave behind the dreaded puffer jackets of winter.

You can also swap out the heavy winter sweaters for lighter knits, which will keep you warm in the breezy spring months. Layering is incredibly versatile and a great way to express your unique style.

Below are several inspirational pictures of layered outfits:

The last element to remember this spring is the rain. Rainy weather can sometimes seem inconvenient when putting together an outfit, but this spring it could be something you can incorporate in your daily wear. This could be in the form of a cute raincoat, fashionable boots, or even a poncho. All of these pieces are functional and can make your outfit truly stand out. Take inspiration from the pics below!
