Lip Gloss Recommendations Ahead of Summer 2023
With summer on the rise and dewy, effortless, sun-kissed makeup looks making their yearly return back to our Instagram feeds, it’s time to pack away matte lipsticks and bring out the glosses to achieve that glass-looking glow. Lip glosses are selling out left and right on TikTok and a lot of times, the hype is worth it! After considering dozens of lip gloss options, I am going to give you some of my favorite lip gloss recs to keep your lips looking moisturized on the beach all summer long.

Starting off strong with the lip gloss with which Sofia Richie described herself as being “clinically obsessed”: Summer Fridays’ Lip Butter Balm Pink Sugar. In her TikTok, Richie goes on to say that the pink sugar flavor “is heaven” and honestly, I believe her! This butter balm is also the perfect glossy top coat for your favorite lip liner. Grab it when you can because this viral lip gloss keeps selling out at Sephora!

MAC’s Glow Play Lip Balm in clear called “Halo at Me” is one of my personal favorites as it moisturizes and works perfectly as a base coat or top coat for any lip combo. I have also found that putting it on before lip liner helps even out the color of my lip liner and makes for a smoother application. The moisturizing effect of this lip balm is perfect for summer.

Buxom Plumping Lip Polish is one of my personal favs as it adds the perfect subtle pout to your lips. This one is an oldie but a goody as it is always in stock at CVS/Walgreens! Not only is it more affordable and keeps your lips looking glossed, but it also dries nicely and has your lips looking full throughout the day.

Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss is my go-to product when I know I’ll be out the whole day and need my lip color to last. Its moisturizing yet consistent formula doesn’t dry out lips and keeps them colorful throughout the day. I love how High Gloss dries on my lips and is wearable up to 6 hours after my initial application.

Fenty’s Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer adds the perfect glossy finish to any lip look or can stand alone! This shiny lip gloss comes in different colors: Hot Chocolit, Fenty Glow, Cheeky, Fu$$y, $weet Mouth, and Clear! Personally, I love a good clear lip gloss as it’s perfect to top off any look and easy to layer and apply on busier days!

Last but not least, is one of my other favorites for moisturized and tinted lips– Vaseline Lip Therapy in “Rose.” I love this product because it is a perfect base for lipstick and because it stands amazingly on its own as well. Whether I’m out on a hike or at the beach in the summer, Vaseline Lip Therapy is easy to bring along due to its practical size and easy application. I also love the slight flavor and color it adds to my lips. Vaseline Lip Therapy does live up to its promise of “soft, pink lips.”
