Transitioning Your Closet From Winter To Spring

F30

As the days begin to warm up, and our winter coats begin to make their way to the back of our closets, some may be sad to part with their favorite pieces. Loafers and sweaters have been winter staples for me, so here’s how I would adapt my favorite pieces for the spring:

Sweaters

Philly springs can be unpredictable – freezing in the mornings and then hot in the afternoons and vice versa. As we’ve been hit with warmer weeks that still have some chill to them, my new tactic has been staying warm on either the top or bottom. I have found myself pairing my favorite heavy winter sweaters with skirts or over long dresses to stay warm on the top for colder mornings. These looks have helped me go about my days during drastic weather transitions and get some more wear out of my favorite winter staples.

Loafers

In the colder winter months, I’ve gravitated towards pairing my favorite loafers with jeans and flare pants. I was sad to part with my loafers as I only associated them with cozy outfits, but I realized that paired with chunky socks and a skirt, my favorite winter shoes can be easily adapted to spring. I have also found that chunky loafers paired with long dresses can add a fun edge to a girly dress. I’m looking forward to styling my loafers with funky socks this spring!

As accessorizing has been growing in popularity, boleros have re-emerged as a perfect cover-up for a warmer spring day. On TikTok, I’ve seen creators turning their favorite winter sweaters into boleros by simply putting their arms through the sleeves and not putting their heads through the hole, so it sits on their backs instead. This is a refreshed trend that I’m excited to try!

If it's a colder spring day and you have your heart set on wearing a dress or skirt, then stockings are always a fun way to accessorize an outfit. Whether simple tights or more statement pieces, stockings have become one of my favorite outfit finishers. I have loved seeing cute stocking looks with socks and loafers as well as patterned stockings! Polka-dot stockings are the next purchase on my list!
